All these positive comments about da Vinci. I had surgery three weeks ago and am still in unrelenting pain. Whatever.

I had lung surgery on 3/27/23 with Da Vinci 4 arm robot. I arrived at the hospital for registration at 12PM, surgery began at 3:50PM (fell asleep) and was I walking at 10PM. Left the hospital at 4PM (28hrs later) the next day. One other alternative was an open chest procedure with a one week hospital stay, including ICU and then a 6-8 weeks recovery at home. The Robot assisted surgery and my incredibly knowledgeable and talented surgeon Dr Faiz Bhora of Hackensack Meridian JFK Hospital (NJ) helped me navigate an otherwise scary stressful experience.

I find it ironic that they have advanced robots to operate but they're filming it with 360p cameras...

this device seems awesome but there are a lack of studies to indicate that results from robotic surgery are superior in any way to results from traditional laparoscopic surgery. the Davinci system is extremely expensive to buy, install, or maintain and is financially out of reach for the majority of hospitals. it's a difficult system to learn and the coding is proprietary which means that individual surgeons, doctors, and hospital technicians do NOT have the freedom to modify ANY aspect of the software. they cannot customize the system in order to meet specific patient needs or surgical requirements. Intuitive Surgical is the company which manufactures Davinci. Intuitive Surgical has been short-cutting FDA scrutiny using premarket notification instead the standard 510(k) process of approval. Intuitive Surgical has also been pressuring healthcare providers to reduce the number of training procedures required before a doctor is allowed to use the system without supervision. there are a number of Davinci related lawsuits being investigated by the FDA for deaths during surgery. just the facts.

I had a partial nephrectomy done on my right kidney monday and here I am friday sitting at home since wednesday night and actually feeling quite well. There was a day I'd have a 6 inch incision and would still be in the hospital.

Stitch it back and then you can applaude. Coz I can stitch it back with my hands. Not to boast but , a human hand is better as of now. Hopefully in the future😊.

If I woke up mid-surgery and saw that thing over me I would be permanently traumatized. If I can avoid it, I'll avoid robotic surgery like the plague. I'm a traditionalist I guess, I want a surgeon using their hands directly on me, not some alien-looking robot that is another point of failure.

Just had surgery using the Da Vavinci, woke up fours hours later, walking around, out the next day, amazing!
